About Marilu Garza & Associates

I grew up speaking both English and Spanish, and that bilingual, bicultural perspective has shaped how I connect people across Houston’s diverse communities. As Chief Development Officer for five organizations, I didn’t just manage development offices—I brought my entire network, my passion for mission-driven work, and my belief that fundraising is about relationships, not only transactions.

Named a “Houston Treasure, AFP Fundraiser of the Year and Comcast Hispanic Hero of the Year, I have worked with small to midsize nonprofits serving homeless families, youth, seniors, and underserved communities. I have also been recognized by the Houston Business Journal as a Women Who Mean Business and as one of the Texas 100 Leaders To Watch.
